Web Development
Working Together—Website Design and Construction
There are several stages of development involved in creating or remaking a successful website.
- First Stage—Initial Contact. The first stage involves the initial contact and discussion with a new client. The goal is to fully understand the client’s business and purpose for the website. In addition, what does the client expect to accomplish with the website, who is the primary target audience and what are their characteristics (demographics), and what content (your products and/or service) will the target audience want on your website.
- DarDigital staff does an internal review of the project—submits a proposal to client
- Client decides to move forward or not . . .
- If the client decides to move forward, then DarDigital’s proposal is reviewed by both parties and any potential changes to the proposal are written into a contract.
- Second Stage—Plan. DarDigital staff and a client representative will use information from the first stage to develop a plan for the website. The client representative will be responsible for gathering and providing all company website content, documents and files to DarDigital staff. It is important that DarDigital receive all of the content, documents and files for the company website before completing the site map and the company “home page” for the website. This process will help insure that a quality website is completed in the timeframe requested for the company’s “live website” on the Internet.
DarDigital will outline a "site map" (list of website sections and categories) that will include the website's content. It will be a map, similar to a menu, which will allow the target audience to easily understand and find their way around your website.
- Third Stage—Design and Construction. The website’s design is critical for a “look and feel” that the company’s target audience can relate to and encourage a response to the client’s products or service. The company’s logo and any corporate colors are also important in the company’s brand on the web site. The design is reflected in a rough layout or prototype of the website which upon approval leads to the actual development of the finished website. The prototype is used to create and develop a completely functional website.
Fourth and Final Stage—Testing and Live Website. All final details will be tested to insure proper operation including viewing the website in different web browsers, e.g., FireFox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, etc. Upon your final approval DarDigital staff will upload the website to a web host for live access on the Internet. The official website can then be accessed by your target audience and the world at large.
An important follow up to the “live website” is the ongoing company branding and maintenance that is often required of a successful web site. Repeat visits by the company’s target audience and new viewers may depend on updated and fresh new content that encourages future visits to the website. DarDigital staff would be happy to continue working together to meet your website’s needs and goals in the future.
Website Host
Every website resides on a server somewhere. DarDigital uses servers at Rochen to host our own “live” website as well as those companies that want us to manage and maintain technical support for their company website.
